Songpa Foundation is a scholarship foundation that was founded as per the final wishes of President Yun Yong-gu, the founder of Ildong Pharmaceutical Group. The foundation was formed in February 1994 with donations from bereaved inheritors within President Yun’s family.

The earnings generated by the foundation is used in their entirety as scholarships for young minds who show immense potential, supporting educational and academic institutions, and publication of academic materials.

In 2016, the foundation granted ￦150 million in scholarships to eighteen college students and four high-school students. Over the past 23 years, the foundation’s scholarship program has furnished ￦2.2 billion in scholarships to 461 recipients.

In 2017, the foundation plans to select seven more individuals than in the previous year and provide approximately ￦220 million in scholarships to twenty-five college students and four high-school students.

President Yun Yong-gu founded Ildong Pharmaceutical to eliminate the country’s reliance on foreign companies for common drugs and help improve the public’s health and dedicated much of his time to providing scholarships and giving back to the communities.
